Can ChatGPT schedule your social media posts?
Yes, with Hookpost by Hookstep added to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server: use the URL https://hookpost.hookstep.in/mcp-oauth, sign in to Hookpost when ChatGPT asks, and ChatGPT can list your channels and save drafts or scheduled posts in your Hookpost calendar. Your Hookpost workspace needs a trial or a Standard or Pro plan, and your ChatGPT plan has to allow custom MCP servers (ChatGPT Free does not).

Add Hookpost to ChatGPT
The server URL, with OAuth as the authentication:
custom MCP server URL
https://hookpost.hookstep.in/mcp-oauth
- Add a custom MCP server. In ChatGPT, open Plugins, press +, then Add custom MCP server. (If your account still has the older menu: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced → turn on Developer mode, then Create.)
- Enter Hookpost’s URL. Name it Hookpost, set the server URL to https://hookpost.hookstep.in/mcp-oauth and the authentication to OAuth. Leave the client ID and secret empty: ChatGPT registers itself.
- Sign in and authorize. Accept ChatGPT’s warning about custom servers and create it. ChatGPT opens Hookpost: sign in and press Authorize.
- Try a first prompt. Ask ChatGPT to list your Hookpost channels, then to save a draft. It asks before anything that writes.
On the Hookpost side the tools work while your workspace has a trial or a Standard or Pro plan; without one ChatGPT still connects, and each tool answers with how to start the trial. On the ChatGPT side, OpenAI decides which plans can add a custom MCP server and whether they may use write actions such as scheduling: not ChatGPT Free, and on Business, Enterprise and Edu an admin may have to allow it.
A first prompt that saves drafts, so you can check them in the Hookpost calendar before anything goes out:
prompt for ChatGPT
List my Hookpost channels. Then write a LinkedIn post and an X post announcing <your news>, check each against the network's rules, and save both as drafts for tomorrow 10:00 my time. Show me both before saving.
Checked on 26 October 2026 with a scripted client that follows OpenAI’s connector flow end to end (sign-in, Authorize, tools). Not yet run inside a ChatGPT account.
Every route from ChatGPT to Hookpost
| Route | What happens | Status with Hookpost |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT with Hookpost as a custom MCP server | ChatGPT lists your channels, reads each network’s rules and saves drafts or scheduled posts in Hookpost, asking before it writes. | Works: needs a Hookpost trial or plan, and a ChatGPT plan that allows custom MCP servers |
| Write in ChatGPT, schedule in Hookpost | Ask ChatGPT for a version per network, paste each into Hookpost’s editor, pick a time. Hookpost checks each version against the network’s limit. | Works on any ChatGPT plan |
| OpenAI Codex CLI with Hookpost’s MCP server | Codex reads your notes or repo, then lists your channels and saves drafts or scheduled posts in Hookpost. | Works: config from Codex’s docs; needs Standard ($19 a month, ₹599 in India) or Pro |
| A script: OpenAI API writes, Hookpost API or CLI schedules | Your own code calls a model for the text and Hookpost’s REST API or hookpost CLI to schedule it. | Works; needs Standard or Pro for the API key |
Codex CLI setup, step by step: schedule posts from Codex CLI. The REST API and CLI: social media scheduling API.
Writing in ChatGPT, scheduling in Hookpost
Ask for one version per network, labelled, so each one pastes straight into its channel:
prompt for ChatGPT
Write a LinkedIn post (under 1,300 characters, ending with a question) and an X post (under 280 characters) announcing <your news>. Plain text, no hashtags in the X post. Label them LINKEDIN and X.
In Hookpost, create a post, select your LinkedIn and X channels, paste the LinkedIn version into the shared editor, then open the X channel and choose Edit content to paste the shorter one. Pick a time and add it to the calendar.
Other schedulers that work inside ChatGPT
These schedulers say they work from inside ChatGPT. We have not tested them; this is what their own pages said on 26 October 2026:
| Scheduler | How it works with ChatGPT, per its own page | Entry price, per its own page |
|---|---|---|
| Postbeam | A ChatGPT-to-LinkedIn connector: approve and schedule posts without leaving ChatGPT | 7-day trial, then from $39 a month |
| PostEverywhere | A custom MCP server you add on chatgpt.com; needs a paid ChatGPT plan, and its ChatGPT app is listed as in review | See their pricing page |
Questions
- Can ChatGPT post to LinkedIn or X for me?
- Yes, through Hookpost by Hookstep: add it as a custom MCP server and ChatGPT can save drafts or scheduled posts to your connected LinkedIn and X channels. Hookpost publishes them at the time you set. ChatGPT asks before anything that writes.
- What URL do I add in ChatGPT?
- https://hookpost.hookstep.in/mcp-oauth, with OAuth as the authentication. Leave the client ID and secret empty: ChatGPT registers itself, then sends you to Hookpost to sign in and press Authorize. No API key is involved.
- Which ChatGPT plan do I need?
- One that lets you add a custom MCP server. OpenAI decides which plans can, and whether they may use write actions such as scheduling; ChatGPT Free cannot, and on Business, Enterprise and Edu an admin may have to allow it first.
- Which Hookpost plan do I need?
- The ChatGPT connection works while your workspace has a trial or a Standard or Pro plan; without one ChatGPT still connects, and each tool answers with how to start the trial. Pasting ChatGPT drafts into the editor works on any plan. The API key, and with it the MCP server, comes with Standard ($19 a month, ₹599 in India: 5 channels, 500 posts a month) and Pro ($29 a month, ₹1,999 in India: 20 channels, 2,000 posts a month, up to 15 team members). Every plan starts with a 3-day trial, and the trial includes the key.
- Has Hookpost been tested in ChatGPT?
- Checked on 26 October 2026 with a scripted client that follows OpenAI’s connector flow end to end (sign-in, Authorize, tools). Not yet run inside a ChatGPT account.
- Is Hookpost in ChatGPT’s app directory?
- Not yet. Add it yourself as a custom MCP server with the URL above.
- How do I disconnect ChatGPT?
- Remove the server in ChatGPT, or revoke ChatGPT in Hookpost under Settings → Approved Apps. A revoked connection stops working at once, and ChatGPT asks you to sign in again before it can use Hookpost.
- Which other AI assistants work with Hookpost?
- Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop, as a custom connector), Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI, all through the same hosted MCP server.
- Can I try it before paying?
- Yes. 3-day trial: in India ₹0 today, then ₹599/month by UPI AutoPay or card; elsewhere $19/month after, by card; cancel at least 24 hours before the first charge.
